A Nigerian-born man has been sentenced to two years in prison in the United Kingdom after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman at one of London’s busiest railway stations.
The British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed that Obinwa Obichukwu, 45, was sentenced on 21 July after being convicted on two counts of sexual assault by the Inner London Crown Court earlier this year.
Authorities also released the convicted man’s photograph following the sentencing while warning that offenders who target vulnerable passengers will continue to face justice.

Assault near Euston Station
According to investigators, the incident occurred on the evening of 20 August 2023 as the victim was walking towards Euston train station in central London.
Police said Obichukwu approached the woman and attempted to begin a conversation after noticing she was listening to music through headphones.
During the encounter, he reportedly grabbed her hand, told her he loved her, placed his arm around her shoulder and invited her to his home.
Despite the woman’s lack of interest, investigators said he continued following her as she walked along Euston Road before entering the railway station.
Victim followed into the station
The British Transport Police said the man continued pursuing the woman down an escalator leading into the station.
According to prosecutors, Obichukwu sexually assaulted the victim near the station entrance before following her further inside.
Police said he assaulted her a second time close to the ticket barriers.
The woman eventually managed to push him away before running from the area and reporting the incident to authorities.
Investigators later reviewed available evidence and launched efforts to identify the suspect.
Police traced suspect to his home
Following investigations, British Transport Police officers successfully identified Obichukwu and later arrested him at his home.
The case subsequently proceeded to trial at the Inner London Crown Court.
In January, a jury found him guilty on two counts of sexual assault.
He returned to court for sentencing on 21 July, where he received a prison sentence of two years.
Court imposes additional restrictions
Beyond the custodial sentence, the court also imposed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) on Obichukwu.
A Sexual Harm Prevention Order places strict restrictions on an offender’s activities to reduce the risk of further sexual offences.
The court further ordered that he remain on the UK Sex Offenders Register for the next ten years.
Individuals placed on the register are required to notify police of certain personal details and comply with monitoring requirements under UK law.

Following the sentencing, the British Transport Police welcomed the court’s decision and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting passengers across the rail network.
In a statement, the force said:
“We’ve put another sexual predator in prison. Obinwa Obichukwu targeted a lone woman and attacked her at Euston station. For doing so, he’ll now spend two years behind bars.”
Police also encouraged victims of sexual offences on Britain’s railways to report incidents immediately, assuring the public that specialist officers are available to investigate such crimes.
