Kola Oyewo was one of Nigeria’s most respected actors and theatre scholars.

Born on March 27, 1946, in Oba-Ile, he dedicated his life to the development of theatre arts, film, and academic excellence.

Over the years, he became known not only for his acting talent but also for mentoring younger generations of performers and scholars.

His influence extended far beyond movie screens, reaching classrooms, theatres, and cultural institutions across Nigeria.

The announcement of the Kola Oyewo Death came through Kunle Afod’s social media page.

In an emotional tribute, Afod described Oyewo as a true legend whose remarkable performances and contributions would never be forgotten.

His message quickly attracted reactions from colleagues, students, and fans who expressed shock and sadness over the loss.

In an interview earlier this year, he revealed that he had once been highly active on movie sets and stage productions before illness slowed him down.

According to the veteran actor, symptoms of his condition reportedly began around 2019 before he eventually received treatment.

Despite the challenges, he remained positive and grateful for life, choosing to take on less demanding roles while continuing to contribute to the industry he loved.

One of the most significant aspects of the Kola Oyewo Death story is the enormous legacy he leaves behind in Nigerian theatre.

He began acting with the legendary Oyin Adejobi Theatre Group during the 1960s and later worked closely with renowned playwright Ola Rotimi.

Oyewo became widely recognized for portraying Kola in the classic stage play The Gods Are Not to Blame.

The role earned him widespread respect and cemented his place among Nigeria’s leading theatre practitioners.

Beyond acting, Kola Oyewo enjoyed an impressive academic career.

He lectured in the Department of Dramatic Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University and later taught at other institutions.

Through teaching, he helped train countless actors, directors, and theatre scholars who continue to contribute to the creative industry today.

Many former students have described him as an inspiring mentor who combined practical experience with academic excellence.

Throughout his career, Oyewo appeared in several acclaimed productions.
