The moment a ray of hope shines, it is accompanied by a million more reflections of darkness, and most people ask, how do we cope? No one has the true answer to that question, however, every situation comes with its own unique learnings and experiences. One of such is the financial implication of the prolonged presence of this pandemic.
The truth be told, this is not the best of times and what makes the situation worse is that no one certain of when it would come to an end. A lot of families have been badly affected by the lack of income, and other major financial challenges, hence it leaves room for panic and fear of the unknown.
One thing to be noted is the fact that there is always a bit of positivity in every situation. This period, a lot of countries and states have enforced the lockdown order and this has distorted the way of life as we know it. Rather than the regular hustle and bustle of the average 21st-century human, we see a pause and a gradual shift tending to a new normal. This normal features a strengthened family bond, and a higher level of psychological and emotional strength.
As a result of these, a lot of possibilities have come to play, and in the best of situations, families are being reunited all over the world. However, there is a pain point in this seemingly happy situation. How do families with little or no source of income overcome these hard times?
LOOKING AHEAD
As humans, we never really know what we are capable of doing, if we are not pushed to the wall, and made to react. This pandemic has taught us one thing for sure. Cherish every moment. If only we knew things would turn out this way, perhaps, we would have spent more time bonding with friends, distant relatives, or making better financial choices.
While we cannot simply turn back the hands the time, there is hope that when this is all over, we would make better decisions and not bother about impossible scenarios if we eventually do. Right now, a lot of financial markets are crashing and the world’s economy seems to be unstable, but we know that this is not the end of it. It is simply a phase we need to pass through to see life in a much more beautiful dimension.
We are all humans and this pandemic has come as a big threat to the specie that dominates the earth the most. Almost everyone has had their defences broken down, and surprisingly people are beginning to act better. Perhaps your family is going through major financial challenges at the moment, have you considered reaching out for help?
This is not the time to worry about your pride or ego, or the perception you would feed off by doing that. At this point, people don’t really care, they just want all this to be over so that they can resume their normal lives (which might never be the ‘normal’ we are used to anyway).
Remember that the peculiarity of the situation is that it is happening to the whole world at once, and seeking out for help wouldn’t place you lower than others, it simply means you are human, and you need to survive, which is what everyone is thinking about at the moment.
A strong family bond is always impossible to break. The good news is that families with a larger percentage of adults can have a mature discussion about this condition and collectively come to an agreement on the next thing to do. It also applies to families with little kids, Husband and wife can come together and map out a way to escape these financial challenges, most especially if it involves reaching out.
RAINY DAYS ARE HERE!
Yes, you probably have some cash stashed up somewhere, but right now you and your family are finding it hard to feed, and you’re wondering, do I spend this money?. Is it safe to use it at this period? Truth is, the flood cannot get higher than this. This is indeed the rainy day. Come on, its a pandemic, people are losing their lives every day as a result of this, and the death tolls are not bias based on race, skin colour, class or even financial status.
Why would you have some money kept aside, and not spend at this period because you are not convinced about the dark skies? The most important thing right now is staying alive, and that is about what everyone on planet earth is trying to do, so don’t store up that cash thinking of what will happen when this is over.
Well, you might argue that the world is not going to end after this, and sure that’s a fair point. If you wouldn’t spend EVERYTHING, at least take some out with the mindset that you have to be alive first and foremost to spend that money. You would see that spending it wouldn’t come with so much guilt and unease.
STAY POSITIVE
This is the number one truth you need to hear. Keep staying positive. True, no one might really understand where the shoe pinches, but the best you can do for yourself and your family is stay positive. Know that you are not alone, and we are all in this together.
Think of the times when things are normal and the happy faces you saw almost every day. Reassuring right? Yes, that’s the spirit. Don’t give up. Not now, not ever. Your financial challenges are almost over.
