Social media influencer and actor Enioluwa Adeoluwa dedicated this year’s Children’s Day to pupils abducted during attacks on schools in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, saying children deserve safety, care and protection.

Taking to his X page on Wednesday, he wrote: “Today, Children’s Day is dedicated to the Ogbomoso Children.

“To the children in the forests.
To the children without safety, without protection.
To the children who now fear the same classrooms that should have held their dreams.

“Children deserve safety.
They deserve care.
They deserve love from the country they call home.

“This can never become our new normal.”

Enioluwa’s post comes amid outrage over the attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Gunmen reportedly attacked Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School and L.A. Primary School in the Ahoro Esiele and Yawota areas of Ogbomoso on May 15, abducting pupils, students and teachers.

Reports said more than 30 children and teachers were taken during the attacks, including primary school pupils, secondary school students and members of staff.

The incident drew further condemnation after a viral video allegedly showed one of the abducted teachers, identified as mathematics teacher Michael Oyedokun, being beheaded by the kidnappers.

Teachers in Ogbomoso later staged protests demanding the rescue of their colleagues and the safe return of the abducted children.

“Every child deserves safety, love, and hope
