Sean “Diddy” Combs’ prison release date has reportedly been moved forward for the third time, even as reports emerge that the music mogul was recently involved in an alleged altercation with another inmate.
According to records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) reviewed by Us Weekly, the 56-year-old rapper is now scheduled to be released on January 24, 2028, significantly earlier than his original projected release date.

The updated inmate records are available through the official Federal Bureau of Prisons website.
Release date moved for the third time
Diddy is currently serving a 50-month prison sentence at Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey.
When he first began serving his sentence, prison records indicated that his projected release date would be June 4, 2028.
However, that date has been revised several times over the past few months.
According to previous reports:
- His first projected release date was June 4, 2028.
- It was later moved to April 25, 2028.
- The date was subsequently adjusted to February 23, 2028.
- Prison records now list January 24, 2028 as his projected release date.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons occasionally adjusts projected release dates based on factors such as earned time credits, sentence calculations and administrative reviews.
Officials have not publicly stated the exact reason for the latest adjustment.
Representative declines to explain
Responding to questions regarding the revised release date, a spokesperson for Diddy told Us Weekly that there was insufficient information to explain the change.
“At this point, we do not have the necessary information to respond with any clarity,” the spokesperson said.
No further details were provided regarding whether the revised release date was connected to administrative procedures or other factors affecting his sentence.
Reports of prison altercation
The latest update comes less than a week after several media outlets reported that Diddy had allegedly been involved in a physical confrontation with another inmate inside FCI Fort Dix.
According to those reports, prison staff intervened before the situation escalated further.
Following the alleged incident, Diddy was reportedly transferred to solitary confinement while prison officials reviewed the matter.
Authorities have not publicly released details regarding what led to the reported altercation.
Likewise, the Federal Bureau of Prisons has not publicly confirmed whether disciplinary action has been taken against the rapper.
Prison rules and possible consequences
Federal prison regulations allow correctional officials to investigate alleged inmate misconduct before determining whether disciplinary sanctions are appropriate.
Depending on the outcome of any investigation, penalties could include restrictions on privileges, disciplinary segregation or the loss of earned time credits.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation that Diddy has been found guilty of violating prison regulations in connection with the reported incident.
Sentence continues
Despite the revised release date, Diddy remains incarcerated at FCI Fort Dix, where he continues serving his sentence.
His legal representatives have not announced any new appeals or court filings relating to his imprisonment since the latest update to his projected release date.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons may continue to revise projected release dates throughout an inmate’s sentence if administrative calculations or earned credits change.
Public attention remains high
The multiple revisions to Diddy’s release schedule have attracted significant public attention, particularly because they coincided with reports of the alleged prison altercation.
While some observers have questioned whether the reported fight affected the release date, prison officials have not indicated any connection between the two developments.
Until the Bureau of Prisons provides additional information, the reason behind the latest adjustment remains unclear.
For now, prison records indicate that January 24, 2028, is Diddy’s current projected release date, although that date could still change depending on future administrative reviews or other developments.
