Ikechukwu Onyeanyusi, husband of Anulika Onyeanusia, the 36-year-old woman arrested in Anambra State over alleged child sexual abuse, has recounted how he says he first discovered the disturbing allegations involving their children.
Onyeanyusi said he was returning from his business on Thursday evening when a friend showed him a video allegedly involving his wife and their eight-year-old daughter.
Speaking in a video shared by the Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, he said he had not previously seen the video circulating online.
“I saw the video. It was my wife, and I saw my daughter. She was molesting the child,” he said.
The husband said he was initially confused and questioned whether the footage was genuine.

Husband says wife claimed video was AI-generated
According to Onyeanyusi, he confronted his wife after seeing the video and asked her to explain what he had seen.
He said she denied the allegation and claimed the video had been generated using artificial intelligence.
“I came to her, and I asked her, ‘What exactly is this that I saw on the internet?’ She said what? ‘I saw your video molesting my daughters. How come this happened?’ She said no. That it’s not true,” he recounted.
He said his wife maintained that the footage was not genuine and had been created using AI.
The claim reportedly left Onyeanyusi uncertain about what to believe until police officers arrived at the family’s residence.
Police reportedly searched home and arrested wife
Onyeanyusi said police operatives later arrived at the home and informed him that they wanted to conduct a search.
He said he allowed the officers to search the premises before they arrested his wife and took the family members away.
“Before I knew it, police have already come to my house. They said they want to search. I said to them, ‘Okay.’ So they did all the searching they did, they arrested her and all of us left,” he said.
According to the husband, he later learnt more about the allegations while the matter was being investigated at the police station.
He said a Divisional Police Officer asked whether he had been aware of what his wife was allegedly doing to their children.
Onyeanyusi said he told the officer that he had no knowledge of the alleged activities.
Husband says wife allegedly admitted the allegations
The husband further claimed that his wife eventually admitted to the allegations during police questioning.
He said he was called into the DPO’s office and asked about the matter.
“That is when I turned to her, I asked her, ‘Did you do this, really?’ And she said yes,” he recounted.
He said the alleged admission left him devastated.
“I got weak. I got tired. How come this kind of a thing can happen? How can you do this kind of a thing?” he said.
The husband said his wife also indicated to police that he had not known about the alleged abuse.
‘I never believed she could do this’
The husband said he decided to speak publicly because he wanted people to understand that he allegedly had no prior knowledge of what was happening.
“I am totally disappointed in my wife. I never believed that she is going to do this kind of a thing, even to the daughter… to her own daughter and to my own daughter. I never believed it,” he said.
He added that his decision to speak was partly aimed at making his position clear to members of the public.
“That is why I decided to make this video to the public to know,” he said.
Anambra authorities investigate allegations
The development follows the arrest of Onyeanusia after authorities received information concerning videos allegedly showing the sexual abuse of children.
A report published on September 12 said the Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, working with law-enforcement authorities, had begun measures to provide psychological, welfare and protective assistance to the affected children.
Reports also said four children were rescued during the operation, while investigators recovered items from the residence as part of the investigation.
Authorities are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the allegations and determine whether anyone else may have been involved.
First Lady calls for support for rescued children
Anambra First Lady Nonye Soludo has also called for a thorough investigation into the matter and urged authorities to ensure that the rescued children receive appropriate medical, psychological and welfare support.
The focus of the authorities is expected to remain on protecting the children while investigators establish the facts surrounding the allegations.
The case has generated widespread concern, with members of the public calling for the protection of the children and appropriate legal action if the allegations are established.
For now, the claims made by the husband and other allegations surrounding the case remain subject to investigation.
The identities and personal details of the children should be protected as the authorities continue their investigation.
