The person earning N200K a month in Nigeria is better than someone who is earning £2000 in the UK – Allen Onyeoma CEO of Air Peace

Allen Onyeoma, the CEO of Air Peace, made a striking assertion during his appearance on TVC, stating that individuals earning two hundred thousand Naira monthly in Nigeria are in a better financial position than those earning two thousand pounds in the United Kingdom.

Onyeoma emphasized this point while discussing the economic challenges and the value of the Naira with the host.

In his argument, Onyeoma pointed out that the perception of the Naira’s weakness is somewhat artificial. He illustrated his point by comparing the purchasing power of two thousand pounds in London to that of two thousand Naira in Nigeria, suggesting that the former would barely cover basic expenses, akin to the latter’s trivial value.

He further emphasized that someone earning two hundred thousand Naira in Nigeria enjoys a superior standard of living.

In his words: “Go to London, if you earn two thousand pounds a month in London, you’re a pauper. What two thousand pounds can afford you is like two thousand Naira.” He continued: “The person earning two hundred thousand Naira in Nigeria is better.”

Expanding on his stance, Onyeoma highlighted that with a monthly income of 200,000 Naira, an individual in Nigeria can afford domestic help such as a maid and a driver, among other amenities. He firmly expressed his belief that the Naira possesses more value when compared to foreign currencies.

Onyeoma also called for a shift in mindset among Nigerians, urging them to refrain from degrading the country’s currency.
