Nigerian rapper Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, popularly known as Vector Tha Viper, has opened up about how he met his wife, Yinka Coker, revealing that their love story began in a nightclub.

The award-winning rapper made the surprising revelation during a recent episode of the MENtality Podcast, co-hosted by media personalities Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Banky W. His comments have sparked conversations online, especially because they challenge the long-held belief that people who meet in clubs rarely build lasting relationships.
According to Vector, despite meeting his wife in an environment many people consider unsuitable for finding a life partner, she has proven to be the complete opposite of the stereotypes often associated with nightlife.
Vector says his wife is “super homely”

While discussing relationships and societal expectations, Vector explained that many people wrongly assume that women who frequent clubs cannot make good wives.
He, however, described his wife as “super homely,” saying anyone who knows her would be surprised that they first crossed paths at a nightclub.
“I met my woman in the club. You will not believe she is super homely. Who would have thought?” he said.
The rapper recalled that what first caught his attention wasn’t her appearance alone but her love for music.
According to him, she was confidently rapping lyrics from legendary American rapper Heavy D, something he found both impressive and attractive.
“What was the first attraction? She was rapping Heavy D,” he added.
Don’t let stereotypes choose your partner
Vector used his personal experience to encourage people not to allow societal stereotypes to determine who they choose as a life partner.
He explained that before meeting his wife, one of the common pieces of advice he frequently heard was that there were no “good women” in clubs.
However, his own experience proved otherwise.
“The typical advice that I heard before then was that there were no good women in the club.”
The rapper stressed that while advice from trusted people can be valuable, relationship decisions should ultimately be based on personal experiences and individual judgment rather than general assumptions.
Choose what works for you
According to Vector, every relationship is unique, and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another.
He advised people to seek wise counsel but avoid making life-changing decisions solely because of public opinion or popular beliefs.
“I am not saying you shouldn’t take any advice. You can have a few people who give you good counsel, then on your own, you can decide what works for you.”
His comments have resonated with many social media users, with several people praising him for encouraging independent thinking when it comes to choosing a life partner.
Others noted that lasting relationships are built on character, communication, trust and shared values rather than where two people first met.
Their marriage
Vector and Yinka Coker officially tied the knot in a civil wedding ceremony held in December 2022.
The couple has largely kept their family life away from public attention despite Vector’s celebrity status.
They are also proud parents of a daughter and have continued to enjoy one of the more private marriages in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Unlike many celebrity couples who frequently share details of their personal lives online, Vector and his wife have maintained a relatively low profile, focusing more on family than publicity.
Fans react to the revelation
Following the interview, many fans took to social media to react to Vector’s comments.
Some agreed that people should stop judging potential partners based on where they meet, while others argued that character and compatibility matter far more than location.
Several users also applauded Vector for speaking honestly about his relationship, saying his story serves as a reminder that genuine love can begin in unexpected places.
Others pointed out that many successful marriages have started in environments society often criticises, proving that every relationship has its own unique journey.
Challenging relationship myths
Vector’s revelation also highlights a broader conversation about relationship stereotypes.
For years, many people have believed that clubs are places only for casual entertainment and not for finding meaningful relationships.
However, relationship experts have often argued that lasting partnerships depend more on the individuals involved than on where they first met.
Mutual respect, communication, trust, shared values and commitment remain the key ingredients of a successful marriage regardless of whether two people met at school, church, work, online or even in a nightclub.
By sharing his own experience, Vector hopes people will become less judgmental and more open-minded when it comes to love.
As conversations surrounding modern relationships continue to evolve, his story serves as another example that genuine connections can happen almost anywhere.
