Homes and businesses across the country were plunged into darkness for several hours yesterday, following two collapses of the national grid in less than a month.
This latest collapse occurred just days after the contentious review of electricity tariffs for Band A consumers by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
Efforts by TCN to restore the grid were ongoing, with power supply reaching only 250 MW. Abuja and Lagos Disco experienced the highest load at 80 MW, followed by Ibadan Disco at 50 MW, and Benin Disco at 40 MW.
Among the power generation plants connected to the grid, Ibom Power and Okpai Gas were the only ones contributing significant output, with 59.50 MW and 117.00 MW, respectively.
