A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian €1 ($1.15) in damages over the armed robbery she endured in the French capital in 2016.
The ruling, delivered on Tuesday, September 15, came nearly a decade after the reality star was targeted by a gang at the Hôtel de Pourtalès during Paris Fashion Week. Kardashian had requested the symbolic sum, with the decision focused on accountability and recognition rather than financial compensation.
In a joint statement with her stylist Simone Harouche, who was also present during the robbery, Kardashian thanked the French justice system and said the experience had left a lasting impact.
“The experience was deeply traumatic, and its impact has stayed with us. Today’s decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition,” the statement to The Associated Press read.
The pair said they were grateful to the court and those who supported them, adding that they hoped to move forward and continue healing.
Court awards damages to hotel receptionist

The court also awarded €109,516 ($126,472) to a former receptionist at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, according to his lawyer.
The receptionist said the robbery had traumatised him. He had sought €550,000 in damages and interest, and his lawyer, Mohand Ouidja, welcomed the award.
The hotel itself received €50,000 ($57,741). Harouche, Kardashian’s stylist, was also awarded €1, the amount she had requested.
The awards were part of the civil proceedings connected to the robbery, which had a lasting effect on Kardashian, her stylist and hotel staff.
What happened in Paris in 2016?
The robbery took place on October 2, 2016, while Kardashian was in Paris for Fashion Week.
Two men dressed as police officers forced their way into her hotel suite, restrained her with zip ties and tape, and stole jewellery worth more than $6 million, according to reports of the case.
The stolen items included a diamond ring Kardashian had worn to a Givenchy show that evening. Much of the jewellery has not been recovered.
The gang became known in France as “les papys braqueurs,” or “the grandpa robbers,” because several defendants were in their 60s and 70s when they were tried.
In 2025, eight people were found guilty for their roles in the robbery. With time already served in pretrial detention, those convicted did not return to prison. None appealed the verdict, according to the Associated Press.

After the convictions, Kardashian said she was grateful to French authorities for pursuing justice.
“The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family,” she said in a statement.
She added that although she would never forget what happened, she believed in growth, accountability and healing, and remained committed to advocating for justice and a fair legal system.
The latest ruling reflects the symbolic compensation Kardashian sought. Her joint statement with Harouche made clear that the award was not about the amount of money, but about recognition of what they experienced.

The €1 award brings another stage of the legal process to a close for Kardashian and Harouche, while the court’s other compensation awards recognise the impact of the robbery on the hotel and its employee.
