Today, October 11th Marks the International day of the girl Child. This year’s theme highlights,
Girlforce: Unscripted and Unstoppable
This theme is basically to empower the girl child to greatness as well as to standup for their rights. The typical girl child is vulnerable to issues ranging from sexual abuse, Child marriage,reproductive health,education inequality,gender based violence,child violence,self esteem issues, as well rights to participate and enter places of worship during menstruation and various Child human rights issues.
The International Day of the girl child emanated from various women movements who have pressed for awareness of issues affecting women. 25years ago at the Beijing China Fourth world conference for women, there was pressure for recognition of Rights of women and girls as Human Rights.
Basically today the 11th of October,the day is set aside for people, individuals,government, organizations and cooperate bodies to add to the voices of young girls to stand up for their rights.

With the theme of this year which is Unstoppable and Unscripted every girl child is encouraged to be a force to be reckoned with. However globally this awareness of the international day of the girl child has led to girls being more assertive, being more aware of sexual predators, going to school and being more educated.
We need to stop abusing our girls
