New details have emerged surrounding the death of British-Nigerian businessman and influencer Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo, also known as Denisi or Ego, after a UK inquest reportedly linked his fatal pulmonary embolism to a cosmetic penis-enlargement procedure performed during a luxury trip to Thailand.
Ubiribo, 43, underwent the procedure at an unnamed clinic in Bangkok in March, where 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine were injected into his penis, according to evidence presented at the Inner West London Coroners’ Court.
The procedure was followed by a medical emergency that ultimately claimed the influencer’s life.

According to reports from the inquest, Ubiribo was staying at a Marriott hotel in Bangkok with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, when he underwent the cosmetic treatment.
Afterwards, the couple reportedly went for a massage. It was during the massage that Ubiribo complained of chest pain before collapsing twice.
He was subsequently taken by ambulance to Sukhumvit Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with a pulmonary embolism, a potentially life-threatening condition involving a blockage in an artery supplying the lungs.
Ubiribo was reportedly initially conscious and able to respond to questions. His wife informed medical staff about the recent filler injections, but his condition deteriorated before doctors could complete a recommended CT scan.
He was transferred to intensive care as medical personnel attempted to save his life.
Doctors performed CPR for more than 100 minutes
Despite extensive efforts by doctors, Ubiribo could not be revived.
Medical staff reportedly performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation for more than 100 minutes before he died in the early hours of March 6.
A subsequent postmortem examination conducted in the United Kingdom provided further information about what may have happened.
According to evidence reported from the inquest, cellular material found in Ubiribo’s lungs matched the hyaluronic acid used during the cosmetic procedure.
Following the evidence presented at the hearing, Coroner Jean Harkin concluded that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism caused by complications arising from the cosmetic treatment.
His death shocked followers and friends
Ubiribo was known for his lavish lifestyle and had built a substantial following on social media.
He reportedly had around 185,000 followers on Instagram, where he shared aspects of his lifestyle, travels and social activities.
His death was particularly shocking because of his age and the circumstances surrounding it.
The new findings have also provided a different explanation from some of the early reports surrounding his death, which had circulated online before the details of the UK inquest became available.
The coroner’s findings have now brought greater clarity to the circumstances surrounding the fatal medical emergency.
A high-profile funeral in London
Ubiribo’s death attracted considerable attention within Nigerian and African celebrity circles.
His funeral was held in London, with reports saying he was buried in a gold coffin valued at approximately $745,000.
Several prominent Nigerian personalities attended the funeral, including Afrobeats star Davido and socialite Cubana Chief Priest.
Ubiribo was widely known to have been close to Davido, and his connections within Nigeria’s entertainment and social scene helped keep public attention focused on his life and death.
Questions surrounding cosmetic procedures
The circumstances of Ubiribo’s death have also renewed discussion about the risks associated with cosmetic procedures involving injectable fillers.
Hyaluronic acid is widely used in cosmetic medicine, but the risks can vary depending on the area being treated, the amount injected and the technique used.
The reported findings in Ubiribo’s case are particularly significant because the inquest heard that material consistent with the injected filler was later found in his lungs.
However, his death should not be interpreted as evidence that every procedure involving hyaluronic acid will result in similar complications. Medical procedures carry different risks depending on individual circumstances, and people considering cosmetic treatments are generally advised to seek qualified medical professionals and understand the potential complications beforehand.
Igho Ubiribo remembered
Beyond the circumstances of his death, Ubiribo was remembered by friends and associates as a businessman, influencer and social figure who lived an unusually public and luxurious lifestyle.
His sudden death at 43 has left family members, friends and followers mourning his loss.
The UK inquest has now provided an official account of the medical events that preceded his death, with Coroner Jean Harkin concluding that the cosmetic procedure caused the pulmonary embolism that proved fatal.
The case serves as a stark reminder that even elective cosmetic procedures can carry serious medical risks and that unexpected complications can occur.
For Ubiribo’s loved ones, however, the inquest marks another chapter in the effort to understand how a luxury trip to Thailand ended in such a tragic loss.
