Nigerian actor Zack Orji has vehemently denied rumors circulating about his demise, dismissing them as “fabrications from the depths of hell.”
Despite recent medical treatments in the United Kingdom following two brain surgeries, Orji addressed the issue in a recent interview with Channels Television. He expressed dismay at the careless dissemination of false information, fueled by the prevalence of social media.
Orji revealed receiving numerous calls from individuals, some of whom he hadn’t heard from in years, expressing concern over the rumors. He condemned the recklessness of individuals who propagate fake news for personal gain, emphasizing the negative impact it has on society.
The actor, aged 64, had been hospitalized after collapsing on December 29, 2023. Initially admitted to the intensive care unit of the National Hospital in Abuja, he later underwent surgery at a private hospital.
In an Instagram interview published on Thursday, Zach Orji emphasized, “I don’t know who originated that lie… it’s a lie from the pit of hell.” He expressed gratitude to the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) for their unwavering support during his medical journey.
The actor went further to say:
“I don’t know who originated that lie, I call it a lie from the pit of hell that…well not myself, they had passed away.
“I saw it and I started receiving all kinds of calls, even calls from people I hadn’t heard from for years, most of them were just concerned, they wanted to find out if it was true and all of that. I can only say that sometimes social media has made people to be so reckless and callous to the point of spreading fake news just to grow their page.”
