Singer Portable has been released on bail after fulfilling the necessary requirements for his release.
This follows his arrest for allegedly refusing to pay a N14 million debt incurred from purchasing a G-Wagon from a car dealer in Lagos State.
The state’s police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed Portable’s release on Wednesday, May 15, stating, “He’s been granted bail.”
Portable was arrested on May 14th after a petition from the car dealer. The singer had reportedly bought a G-Wagon worth N27 million, made a down payment of N12 million, and took the vehicle with a promise to pay the remaining balance.
When the dealer received no further payment and reached out, Portable claimed the car had faults. The dealer then demanded the return of the car or the outstanding payment, but Portable allegedly refused.
Following the petition, police arrested Portable, who reportedly jumped his gate in an attempt to evade arrest. He was taken into custody at the state police headquarters and was expected to spend the night there pending the provision of a surety for his bail.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the singer’s arrest and subsequent release after meeting bail conditions.
