Dr. Bimpe Aderiye, the Commissioner for Education in Ekiti State, has disclosed that the state government has disbursed a total of N546.90 million for the 2024 West Africa Examination Council/Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC/SSCE) fees.
Aderiye made this revelation in a statement released to the press in Ado-Ekiti. She clarified that this amount covers the administrative expenses for all 16,269 SSS 3 students enrolled in public secondary schools across the state for the examination.
Furthermore, the commissioner emphasized that no public secondary school in Ekiti State has the authority to collect any WAEC registration fee.
She cautioned against any attempt by officials of public schools to demand such fees, labeling it as an act of sabotage against the government’s efforts.
Aderiye also warned parents and guardians against paying unauthorized fees, highlighting that such actions undermine government policies and hinder efforts to improve the socioeconomic status of the society.
