Slikk Muzik did not give a detailed public explanation for choosing Ayra Starr’s name for his daughter.
However, the decision has naturally drawn attention given the singer’s growing international profile and the increasing reach of her music outside Nigeria.
Who is Slikk Muzik?
Slikk Muzik is the professional name of Rickey Offord, a Dallas-born American producer and songwriter.
He has worked across different areas of music, including mainstream and gospel projects, and has songwriting and production credits involving several major artists.
His professional credits include work associated with artists such as Ariana Grande, Chris Brown, Toni Braxton and Tamar Braxton.
He has also been involved in Grammy-recognised gospel projects. Grammy records list Rickey Slikk Muzik Offord among the songwriters on DOE’s “Holy Hands,” which was nominated for Best Gospel Performance/Song at the 67th Grammy Awards.
His career has therefore placed him within both the mainstream American music industry and the gospel music space.
Why the name Ayra Starr?
Although Slikk Muzik has not publicly provided an extended explanation for naming his daughter Ayra Starr Offord, the decision has generated widespread curiosity among music fans.
Ayra Starr has become increasingly prominent internationally since emerging under Mavin Records.
Her global rise has been driven by songs including “Rush,” while her collaborations and performances have continued to expand her audience beyond Africa.
The singer’s international appeal may help explain why her name would resonate with a producer working within the American music industry.
For now, however, the exact inspiration behind the baby’s name remains known primarily to Slikk Muzik and his family.

Born Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, Ayra Starr was discovered by Mavin Records founder Don Jazzy and signed to the label in 2021.

The 16-track project features collaborations with several international and Nigerian artists, including ZAYN, Wizkid, Rema, Leon Thomas, KWN, Danny Ocean and Theodora.
The album follows her previous projects, including 19 & Dangerous and The Year I Turned 21, and represents another stage in her development as an international Afrobeats artist.

Fans celebrate the unusual tribute
The decision by Slikk Muzik to name his daughter Ayra Starr Offord has given fans another reason to celebrate the Nigerian singer’s growing influence.
While celebrity-inspired baby names are not unusual, the gesture is particularly notable because it comes from a US-based music professional whose career spans multiple areas of the music industry.
Ayra Starr’s simple “Love you twin” response also appeared to show her appreciation for the tribute.
As the producer and his family begin this new chapter, little Ayra Starr Offord has already attracted attention because of the famous name she shares with one of Africa’s rising music stars.
For her, the unexpected tribute is another indication of how far her name and music have travelled beyond Nigeria.
