Some Akwa Ibom indigenes have criticized Nollywood filmmaker Moses Eskor, Chairman of the Akwa-Cross Chapter of the Directors’ Guild of Nigeria (DGN), over his handling of the burial of makeup artist Abigail Frederick and are calling for her body to be exhumed.
Abigail tragically died alongside popular Nollywood actor Junior Pope and three others in a boat mishap on the Anam River in Anambra State.
Eskor, who also serves as the Special Assistant on Entertainment to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, initially stated that Abigail’s burial took place at the river bank because her family couldn’t afford the necessary sacrifices, which cost N150,000, along with the ambulance to transport her body home.
He claimed that N310,000 was raised for Abigail’s family to cover these expenses. However, this amount fell short, as the family had to spend N180,000 on taxi fares and an additional N20,000, leaving them unable to afford the N150,000 sacrifice.
According to a list shared by Eskor in a now-deleted post, he personally donated N10 out of the N310,000 raised by individuals.
