Canadian music icon, Celine Dion opens up on her zeal and love to perform for her fans and loved ones despite her ill health.
It appears that the music icon is suffering from a neurological disorder known as Stiff Person Syndrome [SPS].
Following an upcoming documentary titled “I Am: Celine Dion”, the singer revealed why she has chosen to give her fans an insight into her health.
According to a press release on Tuesday 30th, January, there will be a documentary to be released on Amazon Prime which openly describes the upcoming event as “An emotional, energetic, and poetic love letter to music, ‘I Am: Celine Dion’ captures more than a year of filming as the legendary singer navigates her journey toward living an open and authentic life amidst illness”, indicating the icon’s interest in letting the world know about her health and her passion to continually perform for her fans despite the SPS disorder.
After revealing to her fans the situation of her health, the world celebrity artist canceled all her tours for 2023 and 2024 respectively. However, before she revealed the diagnosis, she took to her Instagram page to say; “While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know this is what has been causing all of the spasms I’ve been having,”
“Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I used to.”
She also mentioned that during these challenging years of her life, while she was battling with this illness, she realized how much she had missed performing for her fans. In her words;
“As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realized how much I have missed it, being able to see my fans.”
“During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.”
Stiff person syndrome is a rare autoimmune neurological {brain} disorder that causes muscle spasms and other symptoms. It can be triggered by stress, cold, or certain exercises. People who have Stiff Person Syndrome can experience severe muscle spasms and other unpleasant symptoms that can worsen without treatment.
