Former Big Brother Naija winner Whitemoney has threatened legal action against Nollywood actor Uche Maduagwu following comments in which the actor allegedly described him as an “outcast” and referred to him as an “Osu.”

He responded to Maduagwu in an Instagram video shared on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, accusing the actor of making defamatory statements and warning that his lawyer would contact him.

The dispute began after Maduagwu posted a video on Instagram in which he accused Whitemoney of allegedly talking about him behind his back.

In his video, Maduagwu questioned Whitemoney over what he described as his reluctance to visit his hometown.

The actor alleged that Whitemoney was an “Osu,” a term historically associated with a traditional Igbo social classification.

Maduagwu also claimed that Whitemoney’s sister had confirmed the allegation to him.

The actor further questioned why Whitemoney was allegedly hiding what he described as his “true Igbo identity.”

The claims quickly drew attention online, particularly because of the sensitive cultural and historical meaning associated with the term.

However, Maduagwu’s allegations about Whitemoney’s background and his claim involving Whitemoney’s sister have not been independently established.

Whitemoney threatens legal action

Whitemoney subsequently responded in an Instagram video, strongly criticising Maduagwu over the remarks.

The reality star said he had known the actor from his days of hustling in Surulere but expressed surprise at what he described as Maduagwu’s behaviour.

He then warned that the matter would be handled legally.

He described Maduagwu’s comments as defamatory and said his lawyer would contact the actor.

The BBNaija winner also accused Maduagwu of making the allegations in an attempt to gain attention online.

“You’re going to hear from my lawyer”

Reacting directly to the controversy, Whitemoney told Maduagwu that he should expect to hear from his legal representative.

The reality star’s response has since generated reactions among fans and social media users, with many discussing the increasingly heated exchange between the two entertainers.

Whitemoney’s decision to threaten legal action marks an escalation in the dispute.

Rather than continuing the argument solely through social media, he indicated that he intended to pursue the matter through legal channels.

What does ‘Osu’ mean?

The term “Osu” has a specific historical and cultural meaning within parts of Igbo society.

Traditionally, it has been associated with a person or group placed under a form of ritual or social exclusion.

Although attitudes and practices surrounding the classification have changed considerably over time, references to the term can still carry significant social implications.

That context has made Maduagwu’s alleged description particularly sensitive.

However, the current dispute is between the two entertainers, and neither the allegations made against Whitemoney nor the claim that his sister confirmed them should be treated as established facts without independent evidence.

Social media reacts to the dispute

The confrontation has attracted attention because both men are well-known Nigerian entertainment personalities.

He became a household name after winning the sixth season of Big Brother Naija in 2021.

Since leaving the reality show, he has pursued entertainment, music and business interests while maintaining a strong social media following.

Maduagwu is also known for making outspoken comments about Nigerian celebrities and entertainment personalities.

Their latest dispute has therefore quickly become a topic of discussion among fans and followers.

Legal battle could follow

For now, there is no indication that a lawsuit has already been filed.

Whitemoney’s public statement amounts to a threat of legal action, with the reality star saying his lawyer would contact Maduagwu.

Whether the dispute eventually reaches court remains to be seen.

If legal proceedings are initiated, the specific allegations, evidence and responses from both sides would become important in determining the next stage of the dispute.

Until then, the controversy remains primarily a social-media confrontation between the two entertainers.

Whitemoney stands his ground

His response shows that he intends to challenge what he considers damaging claims about his identity and background.

While Maduagwu has made serious allegations, He has rejected the claims and described them as defamatory.

The dispute has once again highlighted the risks celebrities face when personal accusations are made publicly on social media.

For now, fans will be watching to see whether Whitemoney follows through with his legal threat or whether the two entertainers eventually resolve their differences away from the public eye.

What is confirmed is that Whitemoney has publicly threatened legal action and that the dispute has intensified following Maduagwu’s controversial comments.
