A former Texas high school teacher has been arrested following a lengthy investigation into allegations that she had inappropriate relationships with students.
Holly Adams, who previously taught at Angleton High School near Houston, was arrested on Tuesday, August 25, according to the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities charged Adams with one count of tampering with evidence and two counts of purchasing or furnishing alcohol to a minor.
The arrest followed an investigation that reportedly lasted nearly a year after concerns were raised about Adams’ interactions with students and a former student.

Investigation began after student raised concerns
According to reports, the investigation began after a student alerted school officials about what he believed was an inappropriate relationship between Adams and a former student.
The matter was subsequently referred to authorities, who began looking into the allegations.
According to KTRK-TV, a student told investigators that a former student had contacted him through FaceTime from a bedroom inside Adams’ home during the summer.
The student allegedly saw nude photographs in the bedroom as well as an image that appeared to show Adams cuddling with the former student.
The information reportedly became part of the investigation into Adams’ relationship with students and her interactions outside the classroom.
Authorities continued investigating the allegations for several months before eventually making an arrest.
Teacher accused of inviting students to her home
During the investigation, Adams was also accused of inviting students to her home to perform chores.
Authorities reportedly examined Adams’ communications with students as part of their inquiry.
She allegedly admitted to communicating with three members of the school’s baseball team through Snapchat.
The allegations raised concerns about the boundaries between teachers and students, particularly when communication takes place outside school environments and through private social media accounts.

Dr. Gail Saltz, a clinical associate professor of psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, said adults who engage in sexual relationships with students may convince themselves that the relationship is legitimate.
She explained that grooming can involve gradually establishing trust and breaking down normal boundaries between an adult and a young person.
Saltz also noted that male students who experience abuse or exploitation by female teachers can suffer significant psychological harm.
According to the psychiatrist, the gender of the adult does not eliminate the potential damage caused when a person in a position of authority violates a student’s trust and personal boundaries.
Arrest and bond
Following her arrest, Adams was taken to the Brazoria County Detention Center.
She was released later the same day after posting a $26,000 bond.
The bond allows her to remain out of custody while the legal process continues, subject to any conditions imposed by the court.
An arrest and criminal charge are allegations, and Adams is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Authorities have not released all the details surrounding the investigation or disclosed whether prosecutors are considering additional charges.
School district confirms teacher no longer works there
The Angleton Independent School District confirmed that the teacher is no longer employed by the district.
