A tragic lightning strike has claimed the lives of a 31-year-old mother and her 2-year-old twin daughter in Florida, leaving their family devastated by the heartbreaking loss.

Kenya Glasgow, 31, and her young daughter, Kennedi, were killed after lightning struck them on a sidewalk in Margate, Florida, on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Margate Police Department, the mother and daughter were struck at around 2:30 p.m. while Kenya’s husband and the children’s father, Kam Glasgow, was nearby.

Kam said he witnessed the terrifying incident and was also affected by the electrical energy from the strike.
“I saw the whole thing,” Kam told The Post through tears on Monday, one day after losing his wife and one of his children.
“A bolt of lightning came down, I got hit with the residuals from the ground, and I looked over, and that’s when I saw them,” he recalled.
The shocking incident has left Kam grieving the loss of his wife of four years and their daughter, while their surviving twin, Kensli, must now grow up without her sister.
Family devastated by sudden tragedy
First responders rushed to the scene after the lightning strike and immediately began treating Kenya and Kennedi.
Police said emergency personnel performed CPR before the victims were transported to separate hospitals.
Despite efforts to save them, both mother and daughter were later pronounced dead.
Kam described the incident as an unimaginable tragedy, saying he struggled to accept that he had lost two of the people closest to him.
He later expressed his grief on social media, describing the incident as a freak accident and referring to the extremely rare nature of being struck by lightning.
The tragedy has also attracted widespread attention because Kenya and Kennedi were killed in the same incident, while Kam survived.
A heartbreaking loss for a devoted husband
Kam said he and Kenya had known each other since they were teenagers and had spent approximately 15 years together.
He described Kenya as the love of his life and said their relationship began when they were around 16 years old.
The couple eventually married four years ago and built a family together.
“I just lost my best friend,” Kam wrote in a heartbreaking tribute to his wife.
He also expressed sorrow for their surviving daughter, Kensli, who has now lost her twin sister.
“My daughter just lost her best friend,” he wrote.
Kam said he and Kensli would now have to “pick up the pieces” and depend on the support of their family and friends as they attempt to cope with the devastating loss.
Remembering Kenya
Kam described his late wife as an extraordinary person who always placed other people before herself.
He called Kenya the “most amazing spirit in this world” and said she had one of the biggest hearts he had ever known.
“My wife had the biggest heart in the world. And only cared about everybody else and never cared about herself,” he said.
According to Kam, Kenya was someone who consistently showed up for others without hesitation.
Her death has therefore left not only her immediate family but also a wider circle of relatives and friends mourning her sudden passing.
Emotional tribute to mother and daughter
In a deeply emotional social media message, Kam thanked Kenya and Kennedi for the role they played in his life.
“Thank you for choosing me as your husband and father,” he wrote in his tribute.
He also tried to reassure his late wife that he and their surviving daughter would continue moving forward despite the immense pain.
“Don’t worry about Kensli and I,” he wrote, expressing his belief that Kenya and Kennedi would continue to guide them.
Kam said he hoped to preserve their memories and make their story part of his and Kensli’s lives as they move forward.
He also encouraged people who had experienced the kindness and love of Kenya and Kennedi to cherish those memories.
Surviving twin faces life without her sister
The tragedy has left Kensli without her twin sister, creating an especially painful loss for the young family.
Kam said he and Kensli are now relying heavily on their “large family” and close friends for emotional support.
For the grieving father, the coming days and months will be about taking life one day at a time while helping his daughter cope with the loss.

Investigation continues
The Margate Police Department said the incident remains under investigation.
Lightning strikes are relatively uncommon, but they can cause fatal injuries when a person is struck directly or affected by electrical current travelling through the ground.
For Kam, however, the statistics cannot lessen the personal devastation caused by the sudden loss of his wife and daughter.
As the family mourns Kenya and Kennedi, friends and relatives have rallied around Kam and Kensli, offering prayers, condolences and emotional support.
The heartbreaking tragedy serves as a reminder of how quickly an ordinary day can turn into an unimaginable loss.
For Kam, the priority now is caring for his surviving daughter while preserving the memory of the wife and child he lost.
