1. The Meeting (2012)

One of the defining moments of Rita Dominic’s career came with The Meeting, where she portrayed the unforgettable character Clara Ikemba.

Playing a loud, humorous, and outspoken secretary, Dominic delivered a performance that balanced comedy with exceptional acting skills. Her chemistry with the rest of the cast helped turn the romantic comedy into one of Nollywood’s biggest critical successes.

Produced by The Audrey Silva Company, the movie won several awards and established Dominic as one of the industry’s most versatile actresses.

Her outstanding performance earned multiple Best Actress awards, including recognition at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

2. ’76 (2016)

In the historical drama ’76, Rita Dominic showcased a completely different side of her acting abilities.

She played Suzy, the wife of a Nigerian military officer caught in the political tension following the failed military coup of 1976.

The emotionally demanding role required Dominic to portray fear, love, loyalty, and uncertainty, earning widespread praise from critics.

Her performance won the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award for Best Actress in a Drama, while the film itself was selected as Nigeria’s official submission for the 89th Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category.

3. Shattered

Another career-defining project was Shattered, where Rita Dominic delivered one of the most emotionally powerful performances of her career.

The movie explored themes of betrayal, emotional trauma, and resilience, allowing Dominic to fully display her dramatic range.

Her outstanding performance earned her the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actress in a Leading Role, further cementing her status as one of Africa’s finest actresses.

Many critics still consider Shattered one of her strongest performances.

4. Iyore

Rita Dominic continued to impress audiences in the epic romantic drama Iyore, where she starred alongside Joseph Benjamin.

The film explored love, destiny, reincarnation, and the rich cultural heritage of the ancient Benin Kingdom.

Dominic portrayed Osarugwe, bringing grace, emotion, and authenticity to a story that blended romance with African history.

The film received multiple award nominations and remains one of Nollywood’s most visually impressive historical productions.

5. La Femme Anjola

In La Femme Anjola, Rita Dominic once again demonstrated her incredible versatility by taking on the mysterious role of Anjola.

Unlike many of her previous performances, this neo-noir thriller required a subtle and restrained acting style that kept audiences guessing throughout the movie.

Beyond starring in the film, Dominic also served as one of its producers, highlighting her growing influence behind the camera.

The movie received praise for its stylish cinematography, engaging storyline, and sophisticated production quality.

A Career Built on Excellence

Born on July 12, 1975, in Mbaise, Imo State, Rita Dominic studied Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt before making her professional acting debut in A Time to Kill in 1998.

In 2022, she married media entrepreneur Fidelis Anosike, and she continues to expand her impressive body of work with recent projects including Baby Farm and Something About the Briggs.

At 51, Rita Dominic remains a symbol of excellence, professionalism, and consistency in African cinema. Her performances continue to inspire younger actors while reminding audiences why she remains one of Nollywood’s true legends.
