Lagos More Expensive Than US is the bold claim made by Nigerian singer Daniel Benson, popularly known as BNXN, following his relocation to the United States.
The music star recently shared his thoughts during a TikTok livestream, where he compared the cost of living in Lagos with that of major American cities, particularly Los Angeles.
His comments have since sparked discussions online, with many Nigerians debating whether Lagos has truly become one of the most expensive cities to live in.
Speaking during the livestream, BNXN explained that his experience in the United States has been significantly different from life in Lagos.
According to him, aside from paying regular bills, residents in the US are generally not confronted by street beggars or individuals demanding money in public spaces.
The singer noted that despite economic challenges affecting people globally, daily life appears more structured in the United States.
He said one of the biggest surprises after relocating was realizing that nobody had approached him for money since arriving in America.
BNXN argued that Lagos residents spend more on everyday living expenses than many people realize.
While acknowledging that housing costs in Los Angeles remain high, he claimed that many other expenses are comparatively lower than what people face in Lagos.
The singer revealed that he currently pays about $12,000 monthly in rent but suggested that once rent is settled, residents generally have fewer unexpected financial demands.
According to him, Lagos comes with numerous additional expenses that can make life more costly and stressful.

The singer’s remarks have generated mixed reactions across social media platforms.
Some users agreed with his assessment, pointing to rising food prices, transportation costs, utility expenses, and inflation in Nigeria.
Others argued that comparing Lagos directly to Los Angeles can be misleading because housing, healthcare, taxes, and insurance costs in the United States can be significantly higher.
The discussion has once again highlighted concerns about the increasing cost of living in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
Lagos remains Nigeria’s economic hub and one of Africa’s busiest cities, attracting millions of residents and businesses.
However, inflation, currency fluctuations, and increasing living expenses have fueled ongoing debates about affordability.
BNXN’s comments have added another voice to those conversations, especially as more Nigerians compare living conditions at home with opportunities abroad.
Whether Lagos is truly more expensive than Los Angeles remains a matter of perspective, but the singer’s remarks have certainly reignited discussions about the realities of urban living.
Lagos More Expensive Than US is the controversial view shared by BNXN after relocating to America.
While some Nigerians agree with his observations regarding daily expenses and financial pressures, others believe the comparison overlooks major costs associated with living in the United States.
Regardless of where opinions fall, the singer’s comments have sparked an important conversation about the rising cost of living and economic realities facing many residents of Lagos today.

The singer, who revealed that he has relocated to the US, said aside from paying bills, there are no hoodlums or street beggars demanding money from people in the US, unlike Lagos.
Speaking during a recent livestream on TikTok, BNXN said, “I was telling someone, since I got to the United States, nobody has asked me to give them money. And people are also suffering here.
“Lagos is super expensive. It is more expensive than Los Angeles. Aside from housing, every other thing in LA is not expensive. For instance, I am paying $12,000 monthly for my rent. Here you just pay your rent, and you’re good.”
