Embarrassing and Disastrous Moments on High Heels

Walking on heels can cause you embarrassment in many ways. If you rock high heels regularly, then you probably have experienced one of these.

  • Mistepping and suffering a great fall
  • Broken heels in the middle of an occasion or fashion show
  • Wobbling in public but managing to keep your balance
  • Needing the support of a friend to navigate a bumpy road (which could either lead to a fall or kill your poise because it is always very obvious that you are struggling)
  • Being teased for walking like a robot because you are too conscious of the length of your  heels
  • Receiving snickers and side glances because you look weird on your high heels

Here’s a compiled video of ladies embarrassing moments on heels. This will leave you in shock.

While some of these are inevitable and can occur to anyone, there are ways to control their frequent occurrence.

3 Ways to Ensure Safety and Avoid Embarrassment on high heels

Check your heels thoroughly before putting them on for any event

CHECK YOUR HIGH HEELS 1

There are things to look out for before rocking your high heels. This is important because, when your heels disappoint you it could go beyond embarrassment to causing you an injury or a broken leg which is quite dangerous. Therefore, it is important to check for any signs of possible damage and address them before stepping out. Here are important steps to thoroughly examine your high heels

  • Check to see if the straps are held in place and the shanks are firm.
  • Check the heel seat to see if they are loose, wobbly, shaky, or firm.
  • Stand on them to ensure no heel is bent.
  • Put them on and take a 2-minute walk in your house or around your compound.
  • If everything is in place then you are good to go.

Consider your environment before stepping out

HIGH HEELS ON ROCKY GROUND

It is advisable to consider your environment before deciding on the heels to rock. If the occasion you intend to attend is an outdoor event in a bumpy area, then avoid pointed heels. Rather than risk embarrassment, go for heels with a flat and broad surface. Furthermore, if you do not have a personal ride and need to walk some distance before getting a cab, consider this distance before putting your heels on. In this case, I suggest you take a fancy pair of slippers for the street walk then put your heels on in the cab.

Wear Suitable Heels for your Level of expertise

As mentioned earlier, wearing high heels requires skill. One is either a  beginner, an intermediary, or a pro.  Therefore it is important to know the level of skill you possess before deciding on the heels to wear for an event. Do not wear heels the length of a pro when you are still a beginner or you will risk a disaster. While you practice at home, wear what suits you best.

VARIETY OF HEELS

5 ways to walk elegantly on heels

Practice these tips regularly and watch your skills shoot from the beginners level to the level of a pro.

Heel to Toe

heel to toe

The first rule for walking elegantly on high heels states that you should walk from heel-toe and not toe-heel. Many people do not pay attention to this but it is the basic rule to maintain balance and poise on high heels

Body Weight on Your heel

When walking on high heels, more of your body weight should rest on your heel, not your toe. This will require you to lean slightly backward, square your shoulders, and raise your chin slightly up, thereby, maintaining poise and elegance. Placing your Ewing on your toes will make you slouch and walk like one who has a bent and unstable knee/ball joint.

Ascending the stairs

ASCENDING STAIRS ON HEELS

While ascending the stairs, place the out sole of the high heel shoe i.e. the ball of your foot alone on each step. In other words, leave the pointed part away from each step while ascending. Always support yourself by holding on to the handrails in a light grip.

Descending the Stairs

Descending a flight of stairs requires a different method than ascending. When descending the stairs, both the heel and out sole/ball of your foot are placed on each step at a time. Neither is left out as it is when ascending.

Maintain a Straight line

Walk in an inviscible staight line

While walking on heels, place each foot ahead of the other to maintain elegance. To achieve this better, imagine being asked to walk in a straight line without misstepping. Practice this in the comfort of your home and gradually you’ll get used to the skill.

The truth is that if you are regular with rocking high heels, then you have probably experienced at least one disaster. Share your experience with me.

General tips

  • Wear suitable heels for your environment
  • Purchase your perfect size to avoid discomfort
  • While heels are great, flat shoes look good too so give yourself a break occasionally
  • Begin with shorter and flatter heels then gradually proceed to longer and pointed heels
  • Practice often. Keep practicing. The practice is worth the results

Nigerian music industry is mourning the loss of one of its cultural giants. Alhaji Ismaila Dele Bello, popularly known as Ahuja Bello, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the age of 83. His son, Adetunji Bello, confirmed the sad news, revealing that the juju legend died peacefully in his sleep—just a day after celebrating his birthday. For many Nigerians, especially those who lived through the golden era of the 1970s and 1980s, the name Ahuja Bello evokes nostalgia. His music was the sound of celebration, a rhythm that echoed at weddings, naming ceremonies, and late-night parties. His passing is not only a personal loss for his family but also a cultural one for Nigeria’s rich musical heritage. Born on August 24, 1942, in Iseyin, Oyo State, Ahuja Bello was destined for music. Juju, a genre deeply rooted in Yoruba tradition, became the canvas on which he painted his artistry. Unlike many who treated music as a side hustle, Bello embraced it as a calling. By the mid-1970s, Bello had carved a niche for himself with his energetic stage performances, rich guitar work, and soulful lyrics. He was not just a performer; he was an experience. Fans adored his ability to connect with the crowd, blending traditional Yoruba rhythms with modern influences that kept his sound refreshing and timeless. Top 5 Most Visited Countries For Tourism Worldwide - JennySoul.com The 1970s and 1980s were a defining period for juju music, with legends like King Sunny Adé and Chief Ebenezer Obey dominating the scene. Yet, Ahuja Bello held his ground, building a loyal following that admired his originality and charisma. His concerts were more than entertainment—they were community gatherings. Every strum of his guitar carried messages of joy, resilience, and cultural pride. For many families, his songs became the soundtrack of their most memorable life events. One of the highlights of his career was his encounter with reggae icon Bob Marley during a trip to London. Though brief, this meeting symbolized the global relevance of Nigerian music long before the Afrobeats wave. Bello’s artistry showed that African sounds had the power to resonate beyond borders. Tragedy struck in 1982, when Ahuja Bello was involved in a serious accident. At the time, he was at the height of his career, commanding large crowds and dominating the juju scene. The accident slowed his performances and significantly altered his musical journey. For many musicians, such a setback might have marked the end. But Bello’s earlier contributions had already etched his name into Nigerian music history. Even though his stage appearances became limited, his influence continued. His recordings lived on, and his legacy inspired younger artists who admired his dedication to the craft. The death of Ahuja Bello is not just the passing of a man—it is the closing of a chapter in Nigeria’s musical story. His life represents an era when juju music carried social messages, celebrated culture, and served as a unifying force for communities. For older generations, Bello’s passing feels deeply personal. His music was woven into everyday life, from radio airwaves to live performances at social gatherings. For younger Nigerians, his story is a reminder of the roots of contemporary Nigerian music, proving that today’s Afrobeats giants stand on the shoulders of pioneers like him. As tributes pour in, fans, fellow musicians, and cultural associations describe Bello as a cultural custodian who never lost sight of his Yoruba identity. His songs celebrated resilience and tradition, ensuring that juju music remained relevant through the decades. Even in death, Bello’s music continues to breathe life into celebrations. His legacy shows that while people may pass, music remains immortal. Every strum of a juju guitar, every drumbeat at a Yoruba gathering, and every nostalgic radio replay will continue to carry Ahuja Bello’s spirit. The passing of Ahuja Bello at 83 is both a moment of mourning and a celebration of a life well lived. From Iseyin to international stages, from local dance halls to cultural milestones, Bello gave Nigerians more than music—he gave them memories. Though his journey was interrupted by tragedy, his impact remains unshaken. His career serves as a reminder that legacy is not measured by longevity alone but by the footprints left on culture. As Nigeria reflects on his contributions, one truth becomes clear: Ahuja Bello may have taken his final bow, but the music never ends. Rest in peace, Ahuja Bello. The juju lives on.
