On Saturday, a family in Ojodu Abiodun in the local government of Ifo in Ogun State witnessed the collapse of their building which trapped two of their daughters.
It was gathered that the incident occurred as a result of a heavy downpour and mudslide.
The two victims, Suliyat and Nofisat were said to be in the building when the downpour started. As the downpour became heavier, the house collapsed due to mudslide and the two sisters became trapped in the building.
Frantic efforts were made by neighbours to rescue them. As soon as they were rescued from the wreckage, they were rushed to a nearby hospital where a doctor confirmed them dead.
Reports have it that their families immediately buried them according to the Islamic rite.
An eyewitness who resides within the community said “The two sisters were inside the house when the incident happened. We all jointly made efforts to rescue them from the wreckage. We immediately took them to the hospital. It’s so sad that we lost them.”
