In commemoration of World Malaria Day, PanAfricare, an international non-profit organization, conducted a series of initiatives in the Mpape community of Bwari Area Council, Abuja.
Residents, particularly nursing mothers, pregnant women, and children under five, benefited from free malaria testing, treatment, and the distribution of 500 mosquito nets.
World Malaria Day, observed annually on April 25, aims to raise global awareness about malaria eradication efforts and promote action to reduce the disease’s impact on communities worldwide.
This year’s theme, “Accelerating the Fight Against Malaria for a More Equitable World,” underscores the urgency of collective action in combating malaria.
During the outreach in Mpape community, Dr. Godwin Ntadan, the national coordinator of the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), commended PanAfricare and other partners for their contributions to the program’s success. The outreach aimed to empower communities with knowledge and resources to combat the disease effectively.
He emphasized the importance of addressing malaria’s devastating effects, including school absenteeism and decreased productivity among adults.
Representing the NMEP, Raphael Oyinbo, head of advocacy communication and social mobilization, stressed the significance of such initiatives in combating malaria’s impact on society.
