Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has said he will give N100,000 as an interest-free loan to women entrepreneurs and others running small businesses in rural areas.
He shared this news in a message for the 2024 International Women’s Day, highlighting his administration’s focus on empowering women.
Governor Otti emphasized that his government values women, with four women holding crucial positions in his cabinet and 17 out of 24 Permanent Secretaries in the state being women. As part of his commitment to women’s advancement, he pledged to continue supporting them in building businesses and creating wealth in the state.
In line with the theme “Inspire Inclusion” for this year’s International Women’s Day, Otti spoke about deliberate efforts to empower women through increased budget allocation to sectors affecting their welfare. He praised the resilience and dedication of women in Abia State, acknowledging the challenges they face both at home and in society.
Governor Otti expressed gratitude to Nigerian women, describing them as the epitome of grace, knowledge, beauty, and strength. He recognized their significant contributions to global economic, social, and political development. The governor also commended Abia women for their faith and continued support for his administration.
In the message, Governor Otti highlighted specific steps taken by his administration to support women, such as appointing women to key positions and participating in projects like the Nigeria for Women Project.
