The recent re-arrest of Mohbad’s close friend, singer Owodunni Oluwatosin, known as Primeboy, has added a new dimension to the ongoing investigation into the late singer’s death.
While some speculate that the police have focused their investigation on Primeboy as the primary suspect, it has been gathered that Primeboy was rearrested along with Ayobami Fisayo, also known as Spending, who was later released.
Primeboy was initially arrested on October 5, 2023, during his visit to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Panti, Yaba, Lagos State.
Reports indicate that Primeboy and Spending were required to visit the SCID weekly since the investigation into Mohbad’s death began. Primeboy was reportedly handcuffed and detained during his recent visit to the SCID.
According to sources, Lagos Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin stated that Primeboy was detained based on a petition filed by Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi. He was questioned about alleged defamation of character and other accusations mentioned in Wunmi’s petition. Primeboy remains in police custody.
Previously, Primeboy accused Wunmi of trying to frame him for Mohbad’s death, stating that he was unaware of the circumstances leading to the singer’s demise. He released a tribute song titled ‘Tribute to Mohbad’ on September 25 on Apple Music, expressing his shock and grief over Mohbad’s sudden passing.
To investigate Mohbad’s death, the police conducted an autopsy on September 21, 2023, after exhuming his remains. Mr. Hundeyin disclosed this and also mentioned the arrest of the nurse accused of administering the fatal injection to Mohbad.
However, on January 16, Mohbad’s management revealed in a statement on his Instagram page why the autopsy had not been concluded, aiming to clarify certain truths and prevent misconceptions.
