Dr. Umar Abdulahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Alliance (APC), emphasized that the key to ending the marginalization of the South-East is for the region to align itself with the ruling party.
Speaking at a rally in Nnewi, Anambra State on Saturday, March 23, Ganduje highlighted the importance of political affiliation in achieving greater representation for the South-East.
Reflecting on past events, Ganduje recalled the significant role played by the South-East in supporting the ruling party during Shehu Shagari’s administration.
He noted that this support was instrumental in Shehu Shagari’s consideration of Alex Ekwueme as his successor. Ganduje remarked that had it not been for the military intervention, Alex Ekwueme would likely have ascended to the presidency.
Using this historical context, Ganduje emphasized the importance of aligning with the ruling party as a pathway to political empowerment. He asserted that by joining the ruling party, the South-East can overcome marginalization and secure a brighter political future.
