TRUMP RENEWS THREAT TO END “RIDICULOUS” BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP

The United States President Penultimate Wednesday had renewed his threat to end in his words”Ridiculous” Birthright Citizenship in the US.

According to Fox News, President Trump again threatened to end what he called the “ridiculous” policy of birthright citizenship which awards citizenship automatically to those born in the United States. “You walk over the border,have a baby,congratulations. the baby is now a US citizen. He explained. Its frankly ridiculous. He however pointed out that his administration has been drafting an executive order to stop citizenship automatically granted to any child born in the US soil,to non citizen immigrants.

Trump during an interview with HBO pointed out that “i can definitely get this done with an act of Congress,but they are saying I can do it with an executive order. “Now how ridiculous that we are the only country in the world where a person comes and has a baby and becomes a US citizen for 85years with all the benefits. It’s ridiculous,It’s ridiculous and has to end.

A lot of reactions has tailed his pronouncement with policy experts and civil rights leaders saying that President Trump lacks the Authority to unilaterally amend the constitution. His comments are basically to up his base for his campaign and of course this action would be caught up in the court for years they opined. They also pointed out that an executive order cannot overturn an amendment, when there is a conflict between the two the constitution prevails

Shortly after Trumps pronouncement went Viral he was pointed out as incorrect about other countries not granting citizenship to people born on their soil.

Trump had earlier raised this issue in 2015,then as Candidate in his campaign promised  to stop birthright citizenship, a part of his commitment  to curb illegal immigrants crossing the border.

Trump’s critics say this is a tactics to fire up his base for the elections, hr is obviously trying to score a political point in his immigration campaign gimmicks.

However Presudent recently has been on the cry for more border secret especially at the Mexican border. However some Democrat candidates are of the opinion that  “we are a nation of Immigrants and anyone born on this soil is an American.Our immigrants help grow our economy,this is obviously a strategy to up his votes in the midterm elections

However the 14th amendment of the constitution guarantees birthright citizenship and states”All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.

The ability of a President to end birthright citizenship has actually been Challenged by law makers and some legal luminaries.

Presidential candidate Kamala Harris  a Democrat  from California had actually mocked Trump to seriously read  a copy of the constitution. So many push backs from Twitter h as ce opined that President Trump cannot end birthright citizenship with an executive order.

President Donald Trump is still insistent  on ending birthright citizenship knowing fully well that such a move would face extreme legal challenge and public outcry.

His son, Adetunji Bello, confirmed the sad news, revealing that the juju legend died peacefully in his sleep—just a day after celebrating his birthday. For many Nigerians, especially those who lived through the golden era of the 1970s and 1980s, the name Ahuja Bello evokes nostalgia. His music was the sound of celebration, a rhythm that echoed at weddings, naming ceremonies, and late-night parties.
