A horrible incident unfolded in Adamawa State as a butcher, identified as 33-year-old Ibrahim Abubakar, allegedly stabbed his wife to death with a knife.
The victim, 25-year-old Hajara Sa’adu, reportedly faced this tragic fate after her husband accused her of taking his phone.
According to reports from the state police command, the suspect resides in the Sabon Gari area of Girei Local Government Area.
The fatal stabbing occurred in the early hours of Monday, April 8, around 4:30 am, following a dispute sparked by the accusation.
Confirming the distressing event, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, revealed that the butcher repeatedly stabbed his wife in the back, leaving her in a pool of blood.
The suspect was apprehended after the father of the deceased reported the incident to the police.
Nguroje further disclosed that preliminary investigations uncovered material evidence at the crime scene, implicating the suspect in the heinous act.
The accused reportedly confessed to the crime, expressing remorse for his actions.
While expressing dismay over the tragic occurrence, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, assured the public that the culprit would face diligent prosecution.
