The Dangote Refinery is set to start producing gasoline in October 2023. This announcement was made by Devakumar Edwin, the Dangote Group Director.
According to Devakumar, the refinery will start its first crude cargo in two weeks, and in October, it will start the production of 370,000 barrels per day of diesel and jet fuel.
Also, Edwin mentioned that the group will increase the production of gasoline with a remarkable goal of 650,000 per barrel by November 30th.
He said “Right now, I’m ready to receive crude. All we need to do now is wait for the first ship. We can begin as soon as it arrives.” .
Regarding the original schedule, and a conversation with S&P Global Commodity Insights on Monday, the Nigerian Petroleum Corporation Limited had already committed their crude oil to another entity on a forward basis, and this has resulted in a brief delay.
Edwin claimed that this set is temporary as they have located a free trade zone outside of Lagos and that the oil will be bought in dollars instead of naira.
He also added that the Dangote refinery can process crude oil for the majority of Africa as well as the Middle Eastern Arab Light and even US light-tight oil.
