Grammy-winning singer Tems has recently disclosed the reason behind the delayed release of her debut album.
In an interview with the New York Times, Tems revealed that a severe illness forced her to postpone the planned launch of her first album in 2021.
The illness required surgery and a six-month recovery period, leading her to put her album on hold.
During this challenging time, Tems found inspiration and strength, ultimately deciding to release her second extended play (EP), titled ‘If Orange Was a Place’, as an alternative.
Reflecting on her recovery journey, she described her new music as a celebration of resilience and embracing life as a warrior.
“Being a warrior is about not giving up,” Tems said.
“Even if they cut your leg, you walk on your knees, you fight on your knees using what you have — and that’s good enough.”
Now, fans eagerly anticipate the release of Tems’ debut album, “Born In The Wild”, which is set to drop on June 7.
In addition to her album launch, Tems will also embark on her first headline world tour in June, marking a significant milestone in her career.
