Tragedy struck in the Jattu community of Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo State, as gunmen suspected to be herdsmen brutally murdered a civil servant and farmer identified as Inofomoh Gabriel.
Gabriel, who worked at Auchi Polytechnic, ventured to his farm on Wednesday, March 27, but failed to return home.
Concerned family and community members initiated a search when Gabriel did not return as expected.
Tragically, his lifeless body was discovered in the bush on Saturday, March 30, 2024. According to reports, his body bore machete wounds, indicating a gruesome and violent attack.
A source in the community expressed suspicions that herdsmen, known for their criminal activities in the area, were responsible for Gabriel’s death.
The incident, reminiscent of previous kidnappings and killings, has sparked fear and outrage among residents.
Authorities have been notified, with the matter reported to the Jattu Police Division. While details are still emerging, the community awaits justice for Gabriel and demands swift action to address the ongoing security concerns posed by herdsmen.
