The Defence Headquarters has issued a notice seeking 97 individuals wanted for various offenses including terrorism, violent extremism, and secessionist activities against the state.
Major Gen Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the release of names and photos of the wanted persons in a statement from Abuja on Friday night, March 22.
These individuals, identified as terrorists, bandits, insurgents, and militant leaders, hail from regions across Nigeria, including the North East, North West, North Central, and South-East zones. While no bounty has been placed on their heads, the military is seeking their apprehension.
Among those sought in the South East are Factional IPOB leader Simon Ekpa, Obiemesi Chukwudi also known as Dan Chuk, David Ezekwem Chidiebube, and Amobi Chinonso Okafor alias Temple.
In the North West region, which faces challenges such as banditry and kidnapping, 43 individuals have been declared wanted. Notable figures among them include Alhaji Shingi, Malindi Yakubu, Boka, Dogo Gide, Halilu Sububu, Ado Aliero, Bello Turji, Dan Bokkolo, Labi Yadi, Nagala, Saidu Idris, Kachalla Rugga, and Sani Gurgu.
This group includes terrorist commanders such as Abu Zaida, Modu Sulum, Baba Data, Ahmad, Sani Teacher, Baa Sadiq, Abdul Saad, Kaka Abi, Mohammad Khalifa, Umar Tella, Abu Mutahid, Mallam Mohammad, Mallam Tahiru Baga, Uzaiya, and Ali Ngule.
In the North East, where the threat of Boko Haram and Islamic State for West Africa Province (ISWAP) persists, 33 persons have been listed as wanted.
In the North Central and South East regions, 21 individuals, including insurgents, militants, and violent criminals, have been declared wanted.
