Evidence from school records indicates that Yahaya Bello preemptively covered tuition fees for his family members by withdrawing $720,000 from state funds.
Exhibits reveal that payments totaling $845,852.84 were made to the American International School of Abuja since September 2021.
The school acknowledged receipt of these payments for four family members, securing their education until graduation, with provisions made for future enrollees.
Allegedly orchestrated by Mr. Ali Bello, Yahaya Bello’s eldest son, these transactions have sparked investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to documentation, the school has already deducted fees for services rendered, leaving $760,910 slated for refund to an EFCC-designated account.
Notably, the school clarified that no additional tuition fees are anticipated for the Bello family until their children complete their education.
These revelations coincide with statements by Ola Olukoyede, EFCC chairman, who disclosed the $720,000 withdrawal by Yahaya Bello from state coffers for educational expenses during an engagement with media representatives in Abuja.
