Saudi Arabia announced on Monday that the crescent of Shawwal has not been sighted, signaling that fasting will continue on Tuesday.
The kingdom also confirmed that Eid-El-Fitr will be observed on Wednesday, April 10, marking the commencement of the new Islamic month.
This announcement was made on the official Facebook page of Haramin, a platform representing the global Muslim community.
“The crescent moon was not sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, 10th April 2024.
May Allah allow us to utilize the remaining moments of this blessed month to engage in that which pleases Him, may He accept our fasting, prayers, and deeds, and may He grant us the opportunity to witness many more Ramadans in good health. Amen,” the statement read.
However, Nigerian Muslims are advised to await the announcement from the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sa’ad Abubakar, later in the day.
