Lady Valerie, the wife of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, is mourning the loss of her 87-year-old mother, Mrs. Adeline Jaja.
In response, women from all 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State, represented by the Rivers Women Unite for SIM, expressed their condolences to Lady Valerie Fubara during a visit on Tuesday.
In a press statement issued by Bridget Jumbo, Deputy Media Assistant to the Governor’s wife, the women, led by Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Odu, gathered at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Port Harcourt to offer their heartfelt sympathies to the first family of Rivers State for their significant loss.
During the visit, Prof. Odu spoke fondly of the late matriarch, describing her as a remarkable mother who dedicated herself tirelessly and wholeheartedly to serving humanity.
In his words:
“We’ve gathered here to express our sympathy over the loss of your mother. We want you to know how much we love you and appreciate you.”
While in a state of mourning, the wife of the governor spoke fees words to appreciate those who showed up to support her during this grieving times.
She said:
“I thank you specially for making out time to show your love towards me, towards the state. I’m happy that you people are united. I’m happy that where my mother is, there’s nothing like pain, her desire is that under the watch of my husband, Rivers State will be peaceful.”
She also mentioned that her mother’s desire was that the state should thrive under the leadership of her husband, SIM Fubara.
