President Bola Tinubu has revealed the government’s intention to bestow National Honors upon the seventeen military personnel who lost their lives in Okuama, Delta State.
Tinubu emphasized the importance of oversight in ensuring transparency and accountability in governance. However, he cautioned against excessive summoning of officials, which could disrupt operations and impede service delivery to citizens. He urged lawmakers to exercise discretion in their oversight functions.
He also urged legislators to remain connected to their constituencies and empathize with their challenges. He expressed solidarity with the armed forces and pledged to make further announcements soon, ensuring a dignified burial and national recognition for the fallen soldiers.
This announcement was made during the breaking of the Ramadan fast with Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and the House leadership on Wednesday, March 20.
The President expressed optimism about the progress being made by the country and called for continued sacrifices from the people, assuring them of a bright future ahead.
