President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, arrived in Owo, Ondo State, to offer condolences to the family of the late former Governor of the state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. The president also paid a visit to the traditional ruler of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye 111.
President Tinubu, who landed at the Akure Airport around 11:35 a.m., was warmly received by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Subsequently, he made his way to Owo town, arriving at approximately 12:30 p.m. via a chopper, accompanied by Governor Aiyedatiwa. The president was welcomed by the State Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami, and other prominent politicians.
During his visit, President Tinubu extended his condolences to the grieving family of the late former governor, who passed away on December 26, 2023, in Germany after a prolonged illness. The former governor was laid to rest on February 23 in Owo.
President Tinubu’s visit to Owo is not only a gesture of sympathy but also a recognition of the significant role played by the late Akeredolu in the political landscape of Ondo State. The president’s itinerary also includes a visit to the residence of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the leader of Afenifere, in Akure after leaving Owo
