Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, has reaffirmed his commitment to the party amid speculations of his potential departure.
Addressing concerns raised by journalists in Gombe State after commissioning a borehole in the ram market at Tike Pantami on Sunday, Obi dismissed rumors of him switching to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to pursue his political aspirations.
Responding to these remarks, Obi emphasized his commitment to peace and unity, stressing the importance of resolving internal party issues amicably. He reiterated his belief in the collective identity of the Nigerian people and expressed optimism in finding solutions to existing challenges through dialogue and cooperation.
Amidst reports of leadership crises within the LP, Obi clarified that he has no intentions of abandoning the party. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), through its spokesman Benson Upah, had stated that Obi was free to explore other political options if he so desired, emphasizing that the congress would respect his decision.
