A tragic incident unfolded in Kajola village, Apomu, Isokan Local Government Area of Osun State, leaving the community in shock.
Lukman Odejoju, a 63-year-old man, has been accused of causing the death of his mother, Aminat Odejoju, during a dispute over the proceeds from their palm oil farm.
The heartbreaking event occurred over the weekend and has garnered significant attention from locals.
Sources indicate that Lukman and his mother engaged in a heated argument over who had the right to collect the money from their palm oil sales, which was brought by a laborer from the farm.
Aminat insisted on her entitlement to the proceeds, but Lukman disagreed. The disagreement escalated, leading to Lukman allegedly pushing his mother in a moment of anger, resulting in her tragic death.
The Osun State Police Command, through spokesperson SP Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident. Lukman has been detained and confessed to the act, although he claims it was unintentional.
He expressed remorse, suggesting that he was overwhelmed by a force he could not comprehend, leading him to fatally push his mother.
