On Tuesday, the Lagos State Police Command arrested controversial musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, for failing to settle a car debt.
Portable had purchased a G-Wagon from a local car dealer for N27 million, but only paid N13 million, leaving an outstanding balance of N14 million. He claimed the vehicle was faulty and refused to pay the remaining amount.
According to a report by Punch Online, the car dealer repeatedly contacted Portable about the outstanding payment, but Portable consistently cited issues with the car as his reason for withholding payment.
Frustrated with the situation, the dealer reported the matter to the police. Following an investigation, police officers arrested Portable.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest. “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought a G-Wagon for N27 million, paid N13 million, and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today.”
