Nigeria has clinched the second position at the 13th African Games, amassing an impressive total of 47 gold, 33 silver, and 40 bronze medals across 25 sports during the competition.
The Nigerian athletes demonstrated remarkable skill, notably shining in weightlifting, where they dominated with an impressive tally of 32 medals. Among these were 16 gold, 10 silver, and six bronze medals.
Also, Nigeria celebrated success in wrestling, boxing, and arm wrestling, securing a total of 12 wrestling medals, eight gold medals in boxing, and 13 medals in arm wrestling.
Additionally, the country’s athletes displayed remarkable performances in athletics, securing 22 medals, making it the second most productive sport for Nigeria at the Games.
Despite the commendable performance by the Nigerian team, Egypt claimed the top spot on the medals table with a staggering total of 189 medals, consisting of 101 gold, 46 silver, and 42 bronze. Meanwhile, South Africa secured the third position with a total of 106 medals, including 32 gold, 32 silver, and 42 bronze medals.
