A newlywed wife, Amina Abashe, is accused of pouring boiling water on her husband, Shehu Abdullahi, following a dispute over her frequent phone conversations with other men.
The incident reportedly occurred in Kontangora Local Government Area of Niger State.
Speaking from his hospital bed at Kontagora General Hospital, Abdullahi recounted the events, stating that they had been married for two months following the death of his former wife.
According to him, the altercation began when his wife attempted to stab him, but he managed to disarm her. Subsequently, she fetched boiling water and poured it on him.
Abdullahi revealed that despite being married for two months, his wife had refused to move in with him. He had even gone to her parents’ house to express his concerns. On the day of the incident, she called him to their home and declared her intention to end the marriage, claiming she had someone willing to refund his dowry.
Abdullahi alleged that during this confrontation, his wife was speaking to another man on the phone, believed to be her boyfriend.
He went further to say:
“At that point, I became angry and attempted to seize the phone from her and she took a knife to stab me but I was able to collect the knife from her,”
