The family of the late Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, has officially announced the burial date for the beloved patriarch.
Following Mr Ibu’s passing, which came after a period of battling an undisclosed illness that led to the amputation of his leg, the family has decided to lay him to rest in his hometown of Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West local government area of Enugu State.
In a statement signed by Mr Ibu’s brother, Elder Sunday Okafor, the family expressed their desire to honor the memory of their beloved with a fitting tribute.
Describing Mr Ibu as a hero who left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and liveliness, they extended an invitation to all to join them in bidding farewell to their cherished son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and in-law.
The burial ceremony is set to commence on Tuesday, June 25, with a high-profile novelty match, followed by “Mr Ibu’s Night” on Wednesday, June 26, featuring a candlelight procession and live entertainment.
A Christian Wake will be held at his compound on June 27, leading up to the funeral service on June 28.
The five-day commemoration will conclude on Sunday, June 30, with a Church Thanksgiving ceremony, providing an opportunity for family members, friends, and well-wishers to come together in celebration of Mr Ibu’s life and legacy.
