A Nigerian man named Don Bless Nifemi has caused a social media uproar after admitting on Facebook to slapping a woman for not wearing underwear to the market.
His confession was made in response to a post by a Nigerian lawyer named Stella, who had urged women to be considerate of married men by wearing undergarments.
The lawyer’s post criticized the growing trend of women going out without underwear, imploring them to “have mercy on people’s husbands.” She wrote,
“PLEASE have MERCY on PEOPLE’S HUSBANDS. This NEW TREND of NO BRA and NO PANT is INCREASING day by day. PLEASE SISTER, GO and PICK that YOUR PANT and BRA now. WEAR it NOW! Enough is enough. Thank God I’m bending down, my gender must not see my face. Signed: Wives Association of Nigeria.”
In reaction to this post, Nifemi admitted to physically assaulting a woman who was not wearing underwear, sparking immediate backlash from other users, including the lawyer herself.
Stella warned Nifemi about the legal repercussions of his actions, stating, “Slapping people could land you in prison.”
