A man named Brian Mwenda who is alleged to be a fake lawyer was arrested after he had won 26 cases in various Kenyan courts.
The Law Society of Kenyan Nairobi Branch Rapid Action Team (RAT) received a public complaint about Brian’s impersonation and immediately investigated the case and Brian was arrested.
The man’s audacity and tenacity to represent clients before the High Court Judges, Magistrates and Court of Appeal Judges and even won up to 26 cases is a big shock to the public.
The cases he had won span through different legal issues, also his ability to impersonate a legal profession without wavering has become a course for concern in the Kenyan legal system.
Upon his arrest, the Law Society of Kenya Nairobi Branch quickly confirmed that Brian Mwenda is not a licensed advocate and has never been authorized to practice law in Kenya.
This revelation has raised questions about how he managed to operate under the guise of a legitimate lawyer for an extended period and won many cases legally.
Part of the statement released by the LSK Nairobi Branch reads;
“It has been brought to the attention of the LSK Nairobi Branch through the Rapid Action Team (RAT) that the man has been presenting and conducting himself as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of LSK Nairobi Branch.”
This controversy in Kenya’s legal system has caused a major concern and they are doing their best to ensure such does not occur again.
