The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a vigilante, Adekunle Agunbiade, for allegedly setting fire to a suspected thief in the Itire area of the state.
Reports indicate that the victim had been previously apprehended and turned over to the vigilante for allegedly vandalizing a car parked on Shonde Street, Itire, with intentions to steal from it.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed the incident, stating, “Around 5 am on Tuesday, a distress call was received from a resident reporting that thieves had vandalized his car on their street.”
Hundeyin continued, “He reported that after raising the alarm, one of the thieves was apprehended and handed over to the vigilante in charge of the street, Adekunle Ogunbiade.”
“The complainant further stated that he was surprised to later discover that the thief had been set on fire instead of being handed over to the police.” “The vigilante has been taken into custody, and an investigation is currently underway.”
