The Lagos State government has begun the sale of the Lagos State Branded Rice,Lake Rice at an increased price from what it was before.

The prices of the 50kg bag of Lake Rice is currently pegged at N17,000. This is a price hike from its former price of N12,000. While the 25kg is now sold at N8,500 from its former price of N7,000.
However the commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Oluwatoyin Suarau,who announced the commencement of the sale of the LAKE Rice warned that the Rice should not be sold above the approved prices.

The Lagos State Government in order to ensure an effective distribution of the edible commodity have established various Sale designated Centers to ensure that residents have access to the commodity.
Various designated sale centers has been set up such as the secretariat of the 57 local government and local council development areas of Lagos, Farm service center Odogunyan-Ikorodu,Farmers Mart Surulere, Agric input Supply Authority Ojo,Agricultural Development Authority Oko-Oba, Agege and Lagos Television Complex, Agidingbi Ikeja.
Just recently,i the commissioner also announced that in other to ensure that residents of Lagos have access to the Lake Rice more designated centers have been set up such as the Farmers Mart Ajah and Farm Service Center Temu-Epe.
He also added that the two new centers will add to the activities of the already existing designated centers to ensure the LAKE rice was accessible to the residents of the state.
He also explained that the excessive demand for local Rice as well as the increase of the cost of production was the reason Lagos hiked prices of the Lake Rice for the yuletide.
The Lagos State government has reiterated that the hike in prices of the Lake Rice is due to high demand and increased cost of production and distribution within the State especially during the yuletide
